Through Physio TrueUp, a Garmin feature that syncs fitness and training data between your Garmin devices via Garmin Connect. A ride recorded on your Edge then counts toward the training load and Training Status on your watch, and the other way round, as long as both devices support it and sync.
What does Physio TrueUp share?
Garmin’s page What Is Garmin TrueUp? lists what Physio TrueUp keeps in step across compatible devices, among them:
| Shared by Physio TrueUp | Note on Garmin’s page |
|---|---|
| Training load, Training Load Focus | |
| Training Status, Training Readiness, HRV Status | device must support Unified Training Status |
| VO2 max | |
| Functional Threshold Power (FTP) and power zones | |
| Recovery Time | |
| Weekly and monthly totals |
Standard TrueUp, the other half of the feature, shares wellness data such as steps, floors, calories, intensity minutes and Body Battery.
Do I have to switch it on?
On devices with Unified Training Status, no: Physio TrueUp is on by default and cannot be switched off. On other devices Garmin asks during pairing, and you can change the setting in Garmin Connect under your device. When you switch it on for the first time, the last 75 days of activities are downloaded to update your physiological metrics.
Why do the numbers on my Edge and my watch sometimes differ?
Because the sharing runs on syncs, not live. Garmin notes that for some values TrueUp happens once a day after waking up, so data may diverge slightly during the day. For accounts without a device that supports Unified Training Status, Garmin says Recovery Time and training load only update when Physio TrueUp is on for all devices, and it recommends syncing before starting a new activity, otherwise acute training load can differ between devices.
Where does a ride from a Wahoo fit in?
Physio TrueUp shares between Garmin devices. A ride from a Wahoo bike computer is not a Garmin device’s ride, and Garmin’s list of partner platforms does not cover a file uploaded by hand or by another app. Nabe sends a Wahoo ride to Garmin Connect as a recording of your own Garmin watch, with the manufacturer, product, serial number and software version of that watch, read from your Garmin Connect device list or from a file the watch recorded. In the Garmin connection, Nabe shows the device it uses with model and software version, or “Choose device” if it has none yet. Which bytes change is in what changes in a FIT file when Nabe sends it to Garmin.
How often do I need to sync after a ride arrives?
Garmin’s page on third-party activities says to sync your Garmin device twice: on the first sync the device downloads the activity, calculates your new training metrics, and on the second sync it uploads them to Garmin Connect. Nabe follows its specification here: after every upload to Garmin Connect it shows the hint to sync your watch now, and twice on an Edge, and when a transfer finishes in the background it sends the same as a notification, which you can switch off.
What we measured is when the first sync makes sense. On 13 September 2026 Garmin accepted a test upload from Nabe within a second, but the ride was not yet in the activity list one second later and was there two minutes later. Syncing before the ride is listed gives the device nothing to download. The full timeline is in Wahoo ride not showing in Garmin Connect.
