Do Wahoo SYSTM workouts count toward Garmin Training Status?

Yes. Garmin’s current support page lists SYSTM among the platforms whose activities update your Garmin training metrics, including Training Status. The same conditions apply as for every listed platform: a Garmin device with Unified Training Status, a qualifying activity recorded on that device, and two syncs after the workout arrives.

What exactly does Garmin say?

On Can Third-Party Activities Impact My Garmin Training Metrics?, read on 13 October 2026, Garmin writes that “activities recorded on the following platforms will impact your Garmin training metrics” and lists Concept2, Peloton, Rouvy, SYSTM, TrainerRoad, Wahoo and Zwift. The metrics are Training Status, the activity’s training load, aerobic and anaerobic Training Effect, the primary benefit and VO2 max.

The older Garmin page Why Is My Training Status Not Updating still names only the Tacx Training app, Zwift, Rouvy and TrainerRoad. For SYSTM, the newer page is the current answer.

What has to be in place for a SYSTM workout to count?

Garmin names three conditions on the same page:

  1. Your Garmin device supports Unified Training Status.
  2. An activity of the same type, here cycling, was recorded on your Garmin device itself, and the device measured a VO2 max estimate during it.
  3. After the SYSTM workout arrives in Garmin Connect, you sync your Garmin device twice: the first sync brings the workout to the device, the device calculates, the second sync sends the result back.

Does that mean rides from a Wahoo ELEMNT count too?

Garmin’s page does not say so. It lists “Wahoo” as an entry of its own next to SYSTM, but names no device, no app and no way in which Wahoo activities reach Garmin Connect. Wahoo’s own page on sharing an activity with third-party apps, updated on 8 September 2026, lists partners such as Strava, TrainingPeaks, Komoot and Zwift, but not Garmin Connect.

What we measured is narrower. A ride recorded on a Wahoo ELEMNT ROAM on 31 August 2026, which another sync app uploaded to Garmin Connect as a file, showed no Training Effect and no training load on 12 September 2026. Its file still named Wahoo as the manufacturer. Why that matters is in why an uploaded ride does not count toward Training Status.

How does a SYSTM workout reach Nabe?

Through your Wahoo account, if Wahoo lists it there. Nabe reads the workouts in your Wahoo account and sends those that come with a ride file. A workout Wahoo lists without a file is taken into Nabe’s list with the values Wahoo reports and skipped for Garmin and Strava with the reason “no file at Wahoo”. On 27 September 2026, 4 of the 30 workouts on the first page of our own Wahoo account came with a file address.

Should I let both SYSTM and Nabe send the same workout?

There is no need. If Garmin Connect already has a workout, Nabe sees it before uploading and marks its own transfer as skipped with the reason “Garmin already has this ride”. The rule it uses is in how to avoid duplicate rides.
